Not only will this be a full moon, but also a lunar eclipse. This eclipse is partial, so not darkening the entirety of the Moon’s light, it will be mainly visible in Europe, Africa and Asia, with the greatest eclipse over Gujarat, India.
This Full Moon, Lunar Eclipse occurs in Cancer and it would be wise to avoid travel, if you can.
Cancer is an emotional sign, ruled by the Moon, expect quite an emotional, even teary New Year’s Eve.
Mercury is retrograde in Capricorn, and Mars is also retrograde in Leo, so issues and attractions from the past will demand to be dealt with under this eclipse. The word “solstice” comes from the Latin “sol” meaning sun, and “sistere”, to stand still.
The Winter Solistice is the time when the Sun halts over the Tropic of Capricorn, for three days at the end of its tropical journey south, before recommencing its tropical journey north.
The longest night of the year will begin on the eve of the 22nd of December. It is the focus of religious and social festivities in all cultures, including the Christian celebration Christmas.
The solsticial period lasts three days as a rule, so when the Sun begins to rise earlier again after three days at its lowest ebb, it has been cause for jubilation since prehistoric times, for it symbolizes the rebirth of the divine and glorious Spirit of Life.

Jon and Kate Gosselin are an interesting couple from an astrological perspective, because they are both Aries, a sign known for its need for independence. Kate was born on March 28, 1975 and Jon was born on April 1, 1977 with their Aries Suns only four degrees apart.
Both Jon and Kate each have an opposition of potent Pluto to the Sun, a complicating factor in any chart. The tiny planet of atomic energy’s strong connections to both of their charts reflects the amazing life transformations they have already experienced. Producing sextuplets, having a hit TV show and being caught up in a media frenzy reflects powerful Pluto’s ability to take a life and turn it upside down.
